HOME CARE GUIDES · WEST GEORGIA & EAST ALABAMA
By the Spotlessly Clean team · Business-authored homeowner guide
You know you want help with the house. What you may not know is how to describe the work without walking through every room on the phone—or apologizing for the places you haven’t reached.
Start with this: “Here’s what I want off my list.” A useful first conversation doesn’t require a spotless home or perfect measurements. It needs enough honest detail to turn your priorities into a clear written estimate.
For homeowners across West Georgia and East Alabama, here are the details that make that conversation easier, reduce misunderstandings and help you choose the right first visit.

Start with the result you want
“The kitchen needs cleaning” can mean several things. Perhaps the counters need everyday upkeep. Perhaps grease and buildup need closer attention. Or perhaps you want the refrigerator interior cleaned before a move.
Name the areas that matter most and explain what you notice. “The shower edges keep getting put off” is more useful than “everything is terrible.” You aren’t being graded. You’re helping the team understand where its time will make the biggest difference.
If you have a move date, guests arriving or another reason for your preferred timing, mention it. The team still needs to confirm availability; a request by itself does not hold a date.
Give the basics about the property
Share your service location, approximate square footage, bedrooms and bathrooms. Say whether the home is occupied or empty and whether any rooms are outside the requested scope.
Current condition matters as much as size. Describe heavy buildup, areas that haven’t received detailed attention, or recent work that may have left dust and residue. If you know when particular areas were last thoroughly cleaned, that context can help. If you don’t know, simply say so.
Moving and post-construction projects deserve that label from the beginning. Their access, preparation and cleanup needs can differ from an occupied home’s first deep clean.
Separate cleaning from the other jobs on your list
A counter covered with belongings needs space cleared before the surface can be reached. A worn finish or damaged grout may need repair rather than more scrubbing. Organizing and removing contents should be discussed separately instead of quietly folded into “clean the room.”
Tell us about any active pest issues before scheduling so we can confirm whether the work is suitable. Cleaning does not replace pest treatment, and hazardous or biohazard conditions are outside this service.
These distinctions help you avoid paying for a visit that cannot deliver the result you actually need. They also let the team explain what preparation or other help may be necessary first.
Ask about extras before assuming they’re included
Appliance interiors, windows and cabinet interiors are specific scope questions. Mention the exact items you want addressed, their condition and any access concerns. Ask what is included, what can be added and whether separate pricing or preparation applies.
For example, cleaning inside a cabinet is different from moving its contents, sorting them and putting everything back. An appliance may need to be emptied or prepared as agreed. Your written estimate should make those expectations clear before the appointment.
The photo in this guide shows a real example of detailed work. It is not a checklist of what every cleaning automatically includes.
Mention the details that help protect your home
Tell your cleaner about delicate surfaces, product sensitivities, pets and access limitations. Mention anything that needs special care even if it seems obvious to you. A team seeing the home for the first time does not yet know its quirks.
Discuss entry arrangements, where pets will be secured and any areas that should not be entered. You don’t need to publish sensitive access information in a public comment or social message; coordinate those details privately through the agreed booking process.
Before service, follow the preparation instructions you agree on. Removing excess clutter can help the team spend its time on the cleaning tasks you requested.
Use this simple estimate-request starter
“I’m in [town], and my home is approximately [size] with [bedrooms/bathrooms]. I’d like help with [top priorities]. The current condition is [brief description]. I’m also interested in [extras], and my preferred timing is [date or flexibility]. Please let me know what information you need for a written estimate.”
That is enough to start. No elaborate checklist, no need to find the perfect service label, and no reason to spend another weekend catching up before asking for help.
Check three things before you book
First, confirm the included work and any extras. Second, make sure preparation and access expectations are clear. Third, review how the appointment is reserved and any applicable deposit or cancellation terms.
If ongoing help is your goal, say so. Spotlessly Clean starts recurring home cleaning with an initial deep clean, then discusses a maintenance scope and schedule. Asking for an estimate does not commit you to recurring service.
