Comparing cleaning estimates is easier when both proposals describe the same work. A total price tells you what you will pay for that proposal, but it does not explain missing tasks or different visit frequency. Start with the scope, then compare the totals against it.
Match the property and starting condition
Check that both estimates reflect the same rooms, approximate size, occupancy and current condition. A description based on routine upkeep may not match a property with significant buildup or recent renovation work. Explain those differences before asking the providers to clarify their prices.
Compare the tasks line by line
List the tasks you requested and mark included, excluded or unclear for each estimate. Ask about the items that matter most to you. Cabinet interiors, appliance interiors and window details should not be treated as included solely because a proposal uses the phrase deep cleaning.
Compare the appointment terms
Record whether the estimate is for an initial visit, ongoing maintenance or another service. Check frequency, access requirements, cancellation terms and the process for scope changes in the actual proposal. Ask questions about terms you do not understand before accepting them.
Look for unanswered questions
An unclear item is a reason to ask, not evidence that one provider is better or worse. A lower price may cover less work, while a higher price still needs a clear explanation. Ask each company to confirm the scope you want in writing and explain any assumptions that could affect the estimate.
Choose the agreement that fits your needs
Use your priorities, the clarity of the agreement and your confidence in the communication to guide the decision. Avoid comparing one company’s initial detailed visit with another company’s maintenance price as though they are the same service.
